C.W. Griffin is an award-winning photojournalist based in Miami, USA. He brings to the DFA a life-time of experience from his decade of teaching at the University of Miami as well as his 31 years with the Miami Herald.
His work has appeared in National Geographic, Smithsonian, Time, Newsweek and was included in the book and exhibit ‘Contemporary Black Photographers’, Songs of my People’ and his own book, ‘Miami: In Our own Words’. He was invited as one of the top 100 photojournalists in the world to contribute to the renowned ‘Day in The Life’ project that published photo books representing various countries based on a one-day shoot.
C.W. is the first African-American photographer in the history of the military to be named Military Photographer of the Year, and was a member of a Pulitzer prize winning team of Miami Herald Staff members for community service coverage of Hurricane Andrew and a finalist with Carl Juste for Haiti Election coverage 2006. His work has been included in major photography exhibits and he is a member of the Irisphotocollective.
